Basketball Write Ups – Week 1
OPEN:
Mahtook (53) – Wall (51)
–
Team Mahtook: Team Mahtook vs Team Wall (Nailed It) …..
Both Teams came out a little slow trying to figure out how to pace ourselves to run up and down the court week 1. Reigning MVP Albin picked up right where he left off last year hitting two 3’s in the first quarter along with Lucas(Ray Allen) Hahn knocking down a big 3. Team Wall was lead by Troullier and Wall in the 1st qtr to take a 14-12 lead after one.
In the 2nd quarter scoring slowed down for both team as Rookie Edgar and Albin scored all 8 points for Team Albin while Mr. Nailed It added 6 of 8 points for Team Wall. Not much action happen that quarter.
In the Second Half both teams picked up the tempo and the scoring. Team Mahtook had 4 players score lead by Menck with two big 3’s along with Edgar and Deaton chipping in 2 buckets each. Scott (Best Dressed Golfer) Sumner was tired of missed shots and turnovers so he decided to get in on the action. He scored 8 of Team Walls 16 points on lay-ups and put backs. Miguel seem to keep every missed shot alive with a deflection and Team Wall seem to put back in the hole. Team Mahtook outscored Team Wall 17-16
4th quarter went back and forth with the lead never getting more than a few points. Team Mahtook went 7/8 from the free throw line to keep the game close. Albin scored a layup with 32 second left to tie the game. Team Mahtook called timeout to switch defenses. Team Mahtook came out in a 2-3 zone so Team Wall decided to hold for the last shot. Team Mahtook extended its defense and Albin got a steal for a fastbreak layup. He missed the lay up but got fouled on the put back. Mr. MVP hit both free throws to take a 53-51 lead with 3 secs. Team Albin called another timeout. Scott (Micheal Vick ) Sumner draws up a great play and throws a dime to Troullier for a lay up to tie the game BUT……… the jackass playing the next game were on the court warming up and the ref blew the whistle to let Team Mahtook escape with a victory!!!!!
Mahtook – OUT
Team Wall: Must have known how good Deaton’s write up would be!
Davenport (58) – Aillet (38)
Team Davenport: Ball screen, Nelson 3. Ball screen, Nelson 3. Ball screen, Nelson 3. Ball screen, Nelson 3. Ball screen, Nelson 3. Ball screen, Nelson 3. Ball screen, Nelson 3.
That about sums it up. Davenport dropped a smooth 32, Bickham 9, McKenzie 7, Blakeman 6, Mossholder 2, Rookie Harvey 2. Pecue elected to not score in solidarity of the 4B movement
The jury is still out on Team Aillet which was missing 1st and 2nd round rookies West & Vitto. Although Albin subbed in, it just wasn’t enough fire power and Team Davenport strolls to 1-0.
Team Aillet: Poor attendance. Check back in week 2.

Coogan (61) – Arcement, W (41)
–
Team Coogan: Even though it was only game 1 of the new season, Captain Coogan was eager to get in the win column after his disastrous 0-fer flag football season. Mission accomplished as TC jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 61-41 victory over a Boo-Boo-less Team W Arcement.
The TC “tri-towers” of Coogan, Faircloth and Alex Anderson led the way in scoring, rebounding and just being tall. Marcus Lasseigne handled point and was an assist machine. In the time it took me to write these first couple of sentences he probably dished out another dime to Faircloth, who finished with 26 points. Defensively, again, being tall helps as a lot of shots were altered. A-A-ron Mayers and Marcus had the assignment of chasing Will around the gym and did so effectively.
Tim George is now 20-20 lifetime shooting 3’s with Pat Walker guarding him. Hopefully Pat picks up as a sub against us a few times this season. Speaking of Pat – amazing new shoes. They will be some grass cutting machines in a few years.
Looking forward to week 2 and getting the steal of the draft – Rookie Corey Levy – on the court. Probably gonna average a triple double. (3 sliders, 2 pitchers of beer)
Team Arcement, W: Team Arcement vs Team Coogan started off expectedly slow to start the basketball season. TC held a lead most of the game and extended it to double digits throughout. Faircloth’s endless energy was a big factor in their win for TC, and then they heated up from 3 in the 2H. They also relied on their size that gave TA issues offensively. TA was missing Booboo and struggled to get in any rhythm offensively. TA will look to get in the gym this week in hopes of a bounce back.
Hebert (74) – Brantley (60)
–
Team Hebert: Thankfully Patton turned in a write up.
Team Brantley: They say pain is for the weak…Well I’m old now damnit. And after Sunday night’s game, I was in pain for a day or two. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one. Team Brantley had the heavy task of taking on the Hebert/Wilson duo without our big man Matt Pearce. We decided to play a 2-3 zone to “clog the middle” and keep Wilson out of the lane as much as possible. Was it a great plan with an undersized team…. No but fuck it. What were we supposed to do? Jason Wells came out hot hitting a few threes to make us spread our zone out more than I would have liked. That led to easy buckets for Willson. We were able to stay in the game with great ball movement and fast breaks. Randy, Carter and J Mart hit a few threes to keep Hebert’s defense honest. Chatelain hit a few short jumpers to try to prove he put in some work during the off season. He looked great until he tried a finger roll from the free throw line that came up several feet short of the rim. With two minutes left in the half, we switched from 2-3 to man to man. That didn’t go well. Hebert and Wilson ran the pick and roll back to back against us and we just didn’t have the size to stop it. We kept our deficit to single digits until we started fouling at the end. That didn’t work either. I don’t think they missed a free throw all night. Overall I was good with how we played. We missed several shots that I know we will make later in the season, and had way too many bad turnovers. Still, we were able to score sixty on an off night without our 2nd rd pick. Feeling good about the future.
Haf (50) – Arcement, P (65)
–
Team Haf: No write up……Tall man bad.
Team Arcement, P: Team Arcement came out hot and took an early double digit lead in the 1st quarter after hitting multiple 3’s and playing lockdown D on Haf. Team Haf eventually got going offensively but we held on throughout controlling the game on both ends to manage a 15-20 point lead all 4 quarters. Scoring led by Helm who hit 6 threes, 1st overall pick Salmon, and our interim captain Faircloth who we picked up in the Georgia transfer portal. May, Knight and sub Menck played great perimeter defense while hitting a few threes on offense off Salmom assists. Great team win to start off 1-0
Alexander (64) – Sumner (49)
–
Team Alexander: Team Alexander Secures Victory Despite Key Absences! Team Alexander put on a gritty performance earning a hard-fought 15-point win despite missing two players. With the odds slightly stacked, the rest of the squad stepped up to deliver when it mattered most. Matt Allen took command, orchestrating the offense with confidence and pouring in crucial points. Daniel Butcher brought his signature intensity, slicing through the defense like a man on a mission. C.T. Taylor was all over the court, showing relentless effort and making his presence felt in every facet of the game. Michael Rutland added a spark with his creativity and clutch shooting, while Scott Alexander, the team’s steady captain, anchored the effort with calm leadership and timely buckets. Even with Evans and Hurst absent, Team Alexander proved their depth and resilience.
Team Sumner: Team Alexander came out hot, scoring 32 to our 12 in the first quarter. They hit 9 3s. We started in zone to conserve energy, but they took full advantage. That defensive choice was on me.
We switched to man in the second quarter and clawed back a bit, just couldn’t overcome the deficit. We moved the ball well and got some good looks, but credit to Alexander’s team for holding on to the lead with solid time management.
Plenty of positives to build on – great ball movement and effort. We’ll make some adjustments and bounce back stronger next week!

LEGENDS:
Dornier (34) – Warde (29)
–
Team Dornier: Well the day didn’t start off well when we only had 5 players and one of them got in a fender bender on the way to the game leaving us playing with 4 — Team Warde took advantage and played smart ball by taking easy open shot and making them — After 1st quarter we were down 12-5 — then came our saving grace, Kenny Carr giving us 5 — we played well with Talley and Boyd doing most of the scoring and Carr hitting some timely shots — everyone hustled and played great defense to get us back in the game — Team Warde had multiple players score, Crick, Warde, St Cyr, Dartez, Guitrau and Rushing all scoring — but just like typical Legends first games, everyone got wore out and the battle of attrition started — we were able to outlast them and eek out a victory — Kevin Boyd was definitely MVP of the game, but all of our players get props for playing the whole game and never quitting or taking plays off — great all around effort
OUT:
Sandridge

Team Warde: See above! Former MVP’s are still required to do write ups….
Lambert (40) – Smith (27)
–
Team Lambert: Team Lambert got off to a great start week 1 with a very balanced offense and dominate rebounding from Barbay and Levesque. On offense had an attack of Lambert , Burke and Levesque leading the way. Team Smith was led by Smith and Roussel, who are always a tough guard. Overall, it was a great first game to get us in shape.
Team Smith: Typical first game of the season for Team Smith. Team Lambert, however, looks like a well oiled machine primed for a championship run. They had set plays, twin towers doubling Roussel in the post, and the mid range game from Levesque and Lambert was just lovely…it was all a sight to behold! All good though, our captain took some bad shots that didn’t allow us to get into any kind of rhythm on offense. Just hope we make the playoffs this year.
Valenti (40) – Goscha (47)
–
Team Valenti: Team Valenti had a tough matchup first game of the year against team Goscha. Team Valenti had two players show up exhausted from the full weekend one player who hadn’t played over a year one guy who said I play all the time but I feel like I hadn’t played in a year and that’s how we started. Overall team Goscha played very good defense, Team Valenti missed a bunch of open shots. Team Valenti has lots to build on and overall gonna be OK this year. Looking forward to having fresh legs and a little more time on the court going forward. I forgot to get a picture of the book but our scoring was spread out pretty sure smith lead the team in scoring. Team Goscha wins on the court and on the right up as you will soon see.
Team Goscha: Team Goscha was Missing our defensive specialist Ryan Babin due to Christmas light obligation and our sharp shooting first-round pick Chris Boyce but we still managed to pull out a 47-39 victory over former Team Goscha star Valenti. Team Goscha was led by our defending efforts with one player really standing out on the defensive end. Shane LeDoux was seen blocking shots and sprinting back on defense which then fueled our offense with his 21 points. You read that correct defensive effort fuels our offense. Ryan Babin will take this from a mid-grade gas to jet fuel (if you haven’t seen him play, you’re going to soon but more lights this week). We win by being the best defensive team and as captain I could not be more excited by the effort I saw on that end of the floor last night. We are 4 deep with bigs and four deep with guards. Rest was at a minimum last night, but this will not be the case once at full strength. Very excited and team Goscha looks forward to our next game vs Smith. Another captain off the Goscha coaching tree that will take a shot at the mentor. Lato was 2-2 from three-point area, Dean was 3 for 3 on his shots, Fruge didn’t miss a shot all game, Landry was 1 for 1, LeDoux was 9 out of 12 and Goscha was 5 for 25 but demoralized the other team by getting 4 offensive rebounds per basket made. Just incredible tenacity from this Legendary roster!
Tate (36) – Ourso (26)
–
Team Tate: Team Tate defeated Team Ourso with a steady performance, winning 36-26. Team Tate demonstrated consistent scoring throughout the game, putting up 8 points in each of the first three quarters before pulling away with 12 points in the fourth. Team Ourso started strong, taking the lead in the second quarter with a 14-point surge but struggled offensively in the second half, managing only 7 points combined in the final two quarters. Steve Davis led Team Tate scoring 14 points, including three clutch 3-pointers in the second half. Neal added 10 points, while Kevin and Tejas chipped in 6 points each. Hood shined in his post-game Legend’s drinking debut for Team Tate, leading the way to a 4-0 participation victory against Ourso at Walk-ons as well.
Team Ourso: First game back and we were missing Lane Pitre, Team Tate will be a tough opponent this year! Team Ourso kept Steve Davis shut out in the first half, which was our game plan, but he made us pay in the second as we went ice cold. 44 kept us in the game with his great shooting and floor leadership but he couldn’t do it by himself. We will gel and find our roles as the season progresses. Big props to Hood on his solid screens up top, you can’t move that guy!
