OPEN:

Coogan (71) – Brantley (41)

Coogan:  I don’t even know where to begin or what to say to pretend like this was a basketball game.  This game was over when the ball was inbounded for the first time.  TB had no answers for anything TC did. I’m being completely honest, I don’t know if TB would win the legends league and I’m absolutely serious.  Anyways, let’s talk about some of the highlights from the game from TC (TB didn’t have any). The game started out 26-5 to end the first quarter with excellent defense led by Anderson and scoring by Faircloth.  That’s the entire write for 4 quarters.  The final score was 71-41.  Shout out to Levey for getting to the goal and taking his shots and playing hard defense.  The game ended and Brantley’s children left the gym in tears after watching their father basically get murdered, almost like Patton told them Santa Clause wasn’t real.  Pearce finished with 6 pity points and missed 10+ gimmes/layups.  The big fella just doesn’t have a basketball bone in his body unfortunately.  There’s good and bad news with this.  The bad news he has to play 38 more minutes next week vs us again.  The good news is the BRAAS fishing tournament is coming up.  This seems to be Matthew’s calling (past champion) There’s no ball, no teammates, just him and a pole.  Next, there’s Carter Reed – zero points.  Then we have Jeremy Martin – 2 points (don’t remember this). this team is so bad it’s broken Jmart.  He doesn’t even yell like a buffoon anymore.  Followed by Ben Harger – zero points and very spastic/strange defensive play.  Last but not least our dear friend Randy.  Randy wasted no time after the game and grabbed his cooler full of Mockler products and started slamming beers at the scores table.  Our guy is desperate for light at the end of the tunnel.  I will be his shining light – you only have one more game of this catastrophe of a season.

I want to thank my team for playing hard every week. Also, thank you booboo for being part of our team for all those games. On to the playoffs now!!

Aillet (71) – Tuqan (43)

Wall (56) – W Arcement (47)

Wall:  Team Wall finishes the season strong with their fifth win in a row despite our worst shooting performance since Week 1, proving the best defense against us is a good, solid bye week the week before.

In classic TW style, the game both was and wasn’t close, as we had leads of 7, 5, and 11 points through the first three quarters respectively, but managed to allow the game to get down to one possession with only a few minutes left in the fourth. TW used our trademark blend of missed layups, bad passes, and terrible free throw shooting (1-for-6 from the line in the last few minutes before Vic Troullier stepped up and drained a pair to ice the game) to allow Team WArcement back in the game.
To give credit where it’s due, Will (2) and Boo Boo (4) managed to combine for 6 threes in the fourth quarter, making up 18 of their final 20 points. To give even more credit to where it’s even more due, it’s worth noting that roughly 95% of Boo Boo’s points came with Matt Mad Dog Desselle on the bench, a mistake Team Captain/Sponsor Wall quickly corrected.
Anyway, Team Wall still managed to get the win by a 9-point margin, which as we all learned three days before the season ended is for some reason 90% of the maximum number of points you’re allowed to beat a team by for record-keeping and tie-breaking purposes, so no harm, no foul.
As usual, Team Wall had a well-balanced effort with five players getting 5 or more points, and three in double digits. Wall led the effort with 20 points as he dared Pat from trying to stop him from scoring in the paint (Pat declined). Strong defensive performances from our guards as they made Will and Boo Boo work for every point they got (only 17 points through the first three quarters).
Special thank yous to Team Davenport and Team Aillet for helping us climb from 4th place to 2nd on the last night of the season. We appreciate your help locking in the bye!

Mahtook (70) – Hebert (72)

Sumner (68) – P Arcement (74)

P Arcement:  Battle for the 9 seed as both teams came in with 3 wins trying to get a 4th W before the playoffs. We jumped out early to a double digit lead 1st quarter before they closed it to 16-11 after 1. We stretched the lead out to 13 at half and were up 20 by mid 3rd thanks to scoring from all 6 members for Team Arcement. Scoring led by Salmon with 28 pts (and 13 Rebs, 4 assists – props to the score keepers for doing the most) and Helm with 17 pts (and 7 rebs) as we took advantage of the foul trouble by the TS bigs. TS made a late run thanks to 15 4th quarter pts by Danny but we were able to hold them off making FTs and getting just enough stops late. Feels good to end our 4 game losing streak going into the playoffs and finally finish one off in the 4th quarter.

Alexander (54) – Davenport (71)

Davenport:

Team Davenport absolutely trounces Team Alexander for the 1 seed. Down Matt Allen, TA hoisted up 41 3pt attempts trying to keep the game close but the hay makers from Butcher and Scott were simply not enough.

Bickham and Pecue shot a combined 5 of 6 from beyond the arc. TD showcased its flashy passing with a season high 20 team assists, spear headed by Nelson (7) and McKenzie (6).  Rookie Harvey even joined in the fun going 3/3 from the field, highlighted by a Jordanesque free throw line finger roll. If the best defense and rebounding team can sustain this kind of offensive efficiency, sky is the limit.

LEGENDS:

Tate (34) – Dornier (22)

Valenti (24) – Lambert (34)

Goscha (53) – Warde (34)

Goscha:  Team Goscha came out in their vaunted 3-2 defense with the Babin Effect and Jason Landry picking up their first start of the season. After 1 quarter team Goscha found themselves in a 4-point hole. At the half Team Goscha had only found 2 points of breathing room. It’s becoming clear that Team Warde was playing with a new sense of urgency as the playoffs hopped upon us. Jason Landry followed up his start with nice 8-point effort on 4 of 5 shooting. Babin led the way with sharp blows to the gut of the opponent adding to his league leading fouls against total. Boyce, Ledoux and Goscha all managed to score in double digits while Esposito chipped in 6 timely points. Lato landed nothing but a net on his lone 3 pointer and Fruge handled the ball and distributions with incredible accuracy and efficiency. Fruge was actually the MVP of the game due to his generosity at the second part of the write up. The final bit on the game was Graham had 14 vs team Goscha and really exposed our holes in the 3-2.

Walk Ons:

The fastest happy birthday in the history of the world was sung by the walk-on staff. As they showed up to celebrate LeDoux and Diesel 49th and 50th respectively Diesel decided to have a reveal of his own birthday suit. As the jacket opened, and the shirt came off the Song was over and back to a different topic. Young Clark the 8-year-old son of Josh sat and enjoyed sweet tea as the diesel opened up with non-alcoholic Ultra beer (Think Land Man). Next a Bud light was brought out and then finally we got into the Bud Heavy. Clark and Diesel by this point had knocked back 12 wings, 2 sliders each and two slices of birthday cake. We then got into sweet tea number 5 and Bud Heavy pitcher two along with fried pickles. I believe the young man matched me drinking and in joke telling. This is the way to get a young person ready for the real world and it’s highly recommended to bring the kids to sit with Diesel any time. The open crowd was fairly impressive with Josh and his fellow rookie Ryan Mockler continuing to make a very strong showing.

Ourso (77) – Smith (40)
