Week 3 – Open

Arcement vs Brantley

Team Arcement

TA came into their game vs TB missing Bickham and Troullier.. which accounts for ~30 ppg. But with the help of Will’s bro Patrick and Menck subbing, TA hung in early and often to start the game. Carter Reed came out on fire hitting 3 3s in the first half, and TA battled hard defensively. They found themselves tied at the half as the heavy underdogs. Unfortunately the sharp shooting didn’t continue and TB pulled away late in the 3rd quarter thanks to a heavy dose of Towles. Due to their great flag connection (BRAAS still can’t believe how much $ the pair went for) Will Arcement has decided to fully respect the great/physical play from Towles. He would like to bring up just one point though – only one player ended the game for either team without a foul. It was astoundingly enough the biggest guy on the court. Rumors were swirling after the game of a potential “BigBlueNation4Ever” twitter account linked to one of the referees in the game. Regardless, TA looks to get back in the winning ways with a full squad next week.

Ferrara vs Navarre

Team Ferrara

Miracle on ice, Patriots vs the Falcons in superbowl 51, Kim Kardashian in that video with Ray J, and Ferrara vs Navarre. The events that will forever be remembered as the greatest comebacks of all time. We started out hot with a great first quarter capturing a pretty good lead. Then the third quarter came around and Team Ferrara was tired and decided to all just nap on the court. We found ourselves down a lot of points. Some say 15, other sources say 20+. For the sake of the story, we can call it basically a million. One of our teams Alexander’s then went on a hell of a run, scoring 19 points in the fourth quarter. Including two 3 pointers in the last 8 seconds to tie the game and push it into overtime. A buzzer beater that was a spectacle to watch. The bakers dozen of fans went ballistic. We then went to overtime where Allen and Ferrera were more clutch than Mockler walking in with a chest of cold ones. This rounded out an unbelievable 32 points in the fourth quarter and overtime. I heard there was a recording floating around on the internet, but it was flagged as being too inappropriate for children to see grown men beat so badly. One of the Alexander’s played an incredible game scoring 23 points, and a buzzer beater. The other one got a rebound, wrote this silly write up, and managed a poor performance running the scoreboard for the 5:00 slate. People aren’t sure which Alexander did which role though, I guess we will never know.

West vs Aillet

Team West

Team Aillet

Team West was down their captain for Sunday, which may seem on the surface lopsided. However, team Aillet was without their point guard Hoang so I think that was a pretty even trade. First quarter was a little back-and-forth with easy buckets for a team West matched by three-pointers by team Aillet. However, team West wore down some in second quarter with team Aillet building a nice lead going in the halftime. Aillet shot about 5% from the field for the first quarter but then turned it on with fast brake points in the second quarter pulling away. Team West rookie handled load of scoring and ball handling for team West keeping it close. The third-quarter led to team Aillet pulling away. This was lead mostly by in the paint points by Caleb and fast breaks by Menck and Aillet. The second half was filled with some highlights including emphatic blocks by Caleb and Aillet only to be out-done by Tyler Deselle hot three-point shooting night (2/2). Rookie Conner also had a sweet crossover pull up jumper capping the night. I assume team West is back to the drawing board waiting on their captain to return, but in the meantime, I think Evans and Caleb are still arguing about some foul call.

Week 3 – Legends

Warde vs Boyce

Team Warde

Team Boyce

Inspired to deliver a birthday win for our absent player/manager/coach as he jetted off to his annual Caribbean Speedo convention Team Boyce came out firing against the two headed monster of Team Warde. Team Boyce took advantage of their laxed zone early as Reitzell hit some 3’s, and in typical Reitzell form missed some easy lay ups. Lato stepped up and canned a three when Team Warde got close. We played some great defense to create turnovers to equalize our own blunders. Luckily Eues and Dartez missed more shots than they made and Haggai had some shots falling, including a break away lay up that everyone for sure thought he was going to dunk! Everyone on Team Boyce scored a basket and we look to carry that momentum in to a big match up against Team Ringe next week. Watch out for Team Warde in the playoffs, they are a tough physical match up.

Tate vs Lambert

Team Tate

Team Tate came out firing on all cylinders, drilling their first four shots-all from beyond the arc. With a 12-point burst right out of the gate, it looked like they were setting the tone for a runaway victory.

But Team Lambert had other plans.

After the early onslaught, Lambert tightened up defensively, cutting off driving lanes and contesting everything. On the other end, their offense was clicking at every position. By halftime, Lambert had flipped the script and held a 23-19 lead. Their balanced scoring was the story of the night-by the final buzzer, all seven of their players had put points on the board.

In the second half, Lambert continued to stretch the lead, pushing it to as many as eight. Team Tate showed plenty of fight, clawing back to within three, but key misses and Lambert’s consistent defensive pressure made the comeback fall just short.  A well-earned win for Team Lambert.

Final Score: Team Lambert 47, Team Tate 41

Pitre Overcomes Early Deficit to Edge Donnier, 43-34

In a hard-fought game, Team Pitre secured a 43-34 victory over Team Donnier, overcoming an early deficit to do so. Team Donnier set the pace early, taking a 15-11 lead after the first quarter. However, Team Pitre responded with a strong second quarter to edge ahead, holding a narrow 20-19 lead at halftime. The tight competition continued through the third quarter, with Pitre maintaining a slim two-point advantage, 27-25, heading into the final quarter. Team Pitre then found their rhythm offensively in the fourth quarter to pull away and seal the win. Patrick Walker led the charge for Pitre with a game-high 16 points, while Dom Valenti added 11 points, and Clint Smith contributed 8 points to the winning effort. Team Donnier was led in scoring by Patrick Thompson with 8 points, followed closely by Steve Davis with 7 points and James Gibbons with 6 points

Team Dornier

Well this was a close one all the way thru, with Team Pitre being too much down low for our guys to handle, and thus pulling away with free throws at the end — with that said, Team Dornier captain was ‘off’ again not helping with scoring, but we have some bright spots on our team, as our team doesn’t give up and hustles — as soon as our shots start falling we will be hell to deal with.

Kudos to Team Pitre for getting Walker to play down low and exposing our height differences — tough match up with Walker and Valenti down low and good 3 point shooters outside
