Team Lato  30 vs Team Lambert   25

Lato: We got the monkey off our back in the last game of the year.  With only 5 players, we knew we had to play great defense to stop Team Lambert.  Everyone knew their roles and executed the plan perfectly.  We have been close several times, but never finished the game. Tonight, our goal was to finish and we took care of business when we had to.

It was a close game and Team Lato held the  lead in the 1st half  8-7.  The third quarter Naquin had 2 – 3 pointers and Lato hit one while holding Team Lambert to 4 points in the quarter.  Team Lato was in unfamiliar territory with a 17 – 11 lead.  Team Lambert would not give up and rallied to tie the game at 23 with under 2 minutes left.  With a key timeout by Team Lato to settle the team down and Team Lambert deciding to continue to press, Lato hit Naquin for a breakaway inbound pass in which Naquin was fouled and sank both free throws with his bloodied hand.  Lambert continued to foul and Burke and Lato made both of their free throws in crunch time.  Naquin led team Lato with 13 and everyone chipped in on our best defensive effort.

Crick led team Lambert with 11 points and Eues and Lambert were held to 6 and 4 points.

Out:   Price, Lato, G, Fruge

Lambert: Hate to see it.

Team Reitzell-45 vs Team Smith-62

Reitzell:  Another week, another team catches fire and we go cold and give up a career night. Even though Team Smith was without their captain, Peltier, and Plaisance, Macha and Callendet stepped up big time. I don’t think Team Smith missed a shot in the first half? My guy Barnes fought hard for some tough buckets and Dukes was his usual Dukes self pouring in some long threes. Our turn overs and cold shooting couldn’t get us closer than a handful in the second half. Hopefully we get it figured out in the playoffs!

Thanks

Smith: With Mardi Gras in Full swing,, Team Smith was missing 4 players (2 due to injury) so we picked up sub Cooter after his game….

Cooter was a good pick up as he made his first 2 threes to start off the game, and from there our team was hitting on all cylinders….Mark Macha had a season high 24 points, Dornier 18, Les Calendar had 11, Cooter 9, and Grady was a hustle machine getting loose balls, and great defense…Team Reitzel kept the game within reach with great shooting from Dukes and Reitzel from outside, Valenti and Barnes were strong underneath, and Cuendet and johnson kept us running with their fast breaks…Team Reitzel looked a little out of sorts with out their point guard Esposito, but still made some plays,, Team Smith was just on fire with Macha and Calendar hitting what seemed like every open shot 12 feet away…looking forward to the playoffs

out: Smith and Peltier (Mardi Gras), Plaissance and Womack (injured)

Team Phat 35 vs Team Kelly 34

PHAT:  We won- Team Kelley lost! It was a “barn burner” as Joe Dean would say!! Team Kelley jumped out to a 10-2 lead early in the 1st, but Team Phat didn’t worry a bit! We played our game, knew the shots would start fallin and before you knew it, we had the lead!! But soon after that Team Kelley took the lead, and before you know it both teams were exchanging baskets / leads – just like Balboa and Creed were exchanging body blows!! And with the game tied, Team Phat with the ball and time running out, Steve Davis drives to the goal, and is fouled by Captain Kelley!! He calmly goes to the FT line – and Doink!! Misses the first…. after we all yell and curse at Steve he steps up and drains the 2nd! Team Phat wins by 1 and looks like we are in for either the 2 seed or 3 seed heading into the playoffs!

Great playing by Prust! Wafer! Spansel! And SD!! Again we only had 5, because the powers that be decided playing on Mardi Gras weekend was a great idea! Geeeeeeeeez!! Nice job 41!

Kelly: We still finished ahead of Phat!

Team Lockwood 53 vs Team Pitre 36

Lockwood:  Good game all around by my guys to secure a first-round bye.  Joey was on a mission to make Lane pay for not drafting him first and poured in 18.  Levesque not to be out done had 16 points I think, so it was a great battle between the two.  The difference for us was Kurt walked in the gym like the Human Torch and Ringe found his shot (just in time for the playoffs).  The two of them really made it tough for TP with only 5.

We head into the playoffs as the 5 seed I believe.  Looking forward to post season basketball.
