LEGENDS LEAGUE – WEEK 2 RECAPS

Miller 57 vs Lato 32

Team Miller

Lato only had 5, Miller fortunately had 6. Slow start but Miller led 13-6 at the end of 1. We continued to stretch the lead over a very tired Lato team. We passed well and shot well. Ledoux, Ourso, and D Mo were our leading scorers. Lato banked in a handful of 3s for his team. The most entertaining part of the evening was watching Scott Barnes shoot, from anywhere, and watching Marcantel trip with both feet planted over absolutely nothing. Glad none of this is on film.

Team Lato

We played hard, but were overmatched by Team Miller. This was the first game for Rookie Andy Wells and he was welcomed to the league by having to play all 39 minutes.  Our team wore down and with Team Miller’s hot shooting, we kept it as close as we could until the 3rd Quarter.  In the 3rd Quarter, we scored a respectable 7 points, but Miller’s team only missed 3 shots scoring 23 in one quarter.  All of Team Lato’s players scored, but it just was not enough.  Team Miller was led by Ledoux and Ourso’s hot hand.  Morel killed us with his run outs.  On the positive side, we won the 4th quarter by 2, to have a final margin of -25.

On to next week and we are getting close to having our complete team at one game.  Getting ready for the playoffs.

Out:  Naquin, Price, Yegge

Phat 38 vs. Pitre 28

Team Phat

Team Phat started out the game as cold as KC’s football picks! 0-27 out something like that! Then before you know we snapped outta the funk, woke up and started playing ball again… it’s a good thing to, because I was fixing to look into going in the transfer portal and find myself a new team! No sense in wasting my NIL money and time with this team…. But the Ship was righted, all is right once again, and team Phat wins 38-28!! Phat led the way with 5 or 6 3’s (after missing his first 32 attempts) because shooters keep shooting – right Jackie Moon!??? Great defense down the stretch by Spansel! And Steals by the Godfather of hoops D. Prust sealed the victory for Team Phat! We’re 2-0 and looking like the team to beat…. My middle – to later Round picks carried us to Victory!! Prust! Wafer, Spansel and Hondo! Great job guys! After a great week 1 SD and Caro were allowed to take week 2 off, and will be back for Week 3!!

Open league can Suck it!!

Out- Barbay

Team Pitre

Team Pitre takes a tough loss to Team Heroman 38-28. Team Pitre was short handed this week and battled Team Heroman till the end. Madison Mulkey played very tough against Phat. Phat was able to hit some key 3 pointers that was the difference in the game. Team Pitre played tough defense on the league’s leading scorers in holding down Steve Davis and Warren Caro. But in the end, Burke was too much for us to guard. We could not get a few shots to fall at key times during the game. After a great night at the Gala, we just ran out of gas. Burke staying home from the Gala to rest up for the game was a huge advantage. He will not have that advantage next time!! Happy Holidays everyone!!

Reitzell-23vs Kelly-31

Reitzell

Team Reitzell jumped out to an early 10-0 lead and that was the only highlight of the night for TR. We kept it close despite the captain shooting like absolute horse shit. We focused on keeping Kelly and Cooter out of the scoring mix, they both obliged by shooting terribly. Guitreau and Roy Johnson picked up their slack and in the end they pulled away. It was an ugly game and we look to improve going forward. Barnes upped his FT shooting percentage to double digits, giving us something to build on for the next game.

Out-Remy Williams and Dean Esposito.

Smith 34-Dartez 36

Smith

First game back, and we tried shaking the rust off…Team Dartez had all their players except Haggai, and we had 5 with Peltier playing in a must play scenario, which he did when Dornier fouled out…

Game was tight all the way thru with scores being tied in first and second quarters…Dartez took an 8-point lead (32-24) at the beginning of the 4th and held it until about the 4 minute mark when Team Smith started making a comeback with some buckets by Smith, Calendar and Dornier, and some good defense by all to come within 1 point at 31-32… Dornier missed the front end ofa one and one to potentially tie it, then Team Dartez made some FT’s down the stretch to put it away….Good game and great effort, but Team Dartez was too much in the end with PAge Warde, Eddie Carreras, St Cyr, Lowe and Dartez to lead the way. Can’t wait to get Macha, Peltier and Plaissance in the mix for some breathers!!

Dartez

Fortenberry vs Lockwood

Fortenberry

The 1st quarter was the greatest defensive performance is the history of Legends basketball shutting down Team Lockwood with a score of 6 – 0.  Or maybe Team Lockwood was still hung-over from the Gala, either way, we’ll take it.

Roper, Box, & Lee did an excellent job defending the paint and keeping Gosha under control.   Things clicked a little better on offense with Reggie and Trevor leading a balanced scoring attack with 13 & 7 points, respectively.

Looking forward to the match up next week with Team Kelly.

Out – M. Simon

Lockwood

It was ugly early.  Like zero points in the first quarter ugly.  Quite possibly the worst shooting performance in the annals of legends basketball.  I am sure we shot less than 10% from behind the arc, less than 10% from the free throw line, and less than 20% from the field, we missed from everywhere! The good news is that after two weeks I like our defense.  As bad as we shot we were never out of the game until the final minutes. If open shots fall it’s a different story….

Team Fortenberry played patient basketball down the stretch and got some opportunistic buckets….

Out- Bueche and Keltner
