Inaugural BRAAStrong 2023 Golf Tournament Recap

What a beautiful day for golf and what a great day for The BRAAStrong Foundation.   Although the final numbers are not in just yet, it appears that we easily exceeded our first year goal of raising at least $10k for BRAAStrong with our first ever BRAAS sponsored golf tournament.

After our opening prayer form Michael Schoen and The National Anthem accompanied by the U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard the golfers were dispatched and the competition was on.

Due to an overwhelming response we entered 44 teams which did extend the day just a bit.  However, no one was complaining and a great time was had by all 132 golfers that participated as well as all of our vendor/sponsors and volunteers.

There were thousands of dollars given away in prizes, raffles and 50/50 winnings.  But, the real winner on the day was the BRAAStrong Foundation.

A special thanks to Jerry Outlaw and Brad Smith who were instrumental in helping make this tournament a success and were relentless in their pursuit of perfection in both execution and enjoyment for all.  Our volunteer staff worked very hard and although it was a long day they had just as much fun as the golfers.

But….No one had more fun than Jeremy (“J-Mart”) Martin who showed off with an ACE on the Par 3 Closest to the Pin hole.  J-Mart collected on his prize and then continued the celebration until much later in the evening by buying drinks for anyone and everyone that pretended to know him.  That’s how it’s done J-Mart!  Congrats!

Here is a breakdown of the team and contest winners.

  • 1st Place Team Brad (Beav) Smith, Robbie White & Dante Caldera
  • 2nd Place Team Scott Sumner, Blake Lemoine & Todd Elkins
  • 3rd Place Team Jeremy Martin, Alex Edward  & Landon Lyons
