Flag Football – Week 7 Recaps
Team McKee (13) – Team Desselle (20)
Team McKee: In shocking fashion Team McKee fell to Team Deselle on Monday night by a
score of 20 to 13. It was all a blur it seems. The game started with Bart running around like
Michael Johnson in the 400, hitting receivers on multiple routes, capped off by a deep bomb to
Brandon Pitre. This was especially amusing considering the glove like coverage Pat Walker
displayed on the play. Anymore room between them and a Leblanc/Fresina Construction could
have started a house. Nonetheless…. Walker had to regroup and grease up the knees for
offense. Team Mckee worked down the field methodically… hitting Hymel, Coogan, Boo Boo,
Boo boo, Boozie Boo, Boo Boo and ultimately Boo Boo on a corner route for a TD. Getting
ready to try the extra point Matt Allen showed up to take his rightful position in this high powered
offense. Jim Young with the quote of the day “Shit there goes our leading receiver” when Boo
Boo subbed out. On another note, get well Boo Boo. Onward. Team Mckee decided to rush two
at Bart the rest of the half…. Many times getting mesmerized by the dreamy eyes and smile of
the living breathing Under Armor statue, allowing him to break contain and gallop for 20 yards a
pop or hit receivers for catch and runs. They scored again to make it 13-6. Team Mckee took
over and drove down the field under great duress. Almost everyone on offense touched the ball
that drive ultimately ending with a dropped INT and catch for a TD by Team McKee. McKee held
them out of endzone before half.
After halftime Team Mckee turned it over on downs after some very shotty QB play. Team
Desselle scored another td on outstanding QB play. Team Mckee did their best to tie the game
but ultimately had a turnover on downs and the game was called. More importantly than the loss
was the burning desire for the club to show up next Monday for the “ BATTLE OF THE
BEATENS”. Be there… somethings got to give.
Team Desselle: Nothing yet. Even checked my AOL account.
Team Pecue (6) – Team Davenport (18)
Team Pecue: Both Team Pecue and Team Davenport were essentially locked into the 4 and 5
seeds before the game even started. Since this meant the same matchup would happen again
in the first round of the playoffs, Team Pecue took the opportunity to rest up as only 5 players
were able to play.
Shout out to Miguel and Menck for subbing so we could play.
Team Pecue decided to run a bunch of plays on offense and defense that we definitely won’t run
next week (or will we?)
Team Davenport came away with the win, but they had multiple arguments over certain players
hogging the ball and not pitching to open teammates which has their team morale in a tailspin
as we head to playoffs.
Team Davenport: In a highly anticipated matchup, Team Davenport emerged victorious with
an impressive 18-6 to Team Pecue, setting the stage for a potential playoff rematch next week.
Both teams played conservatively, refraining from opening up their playbooks, as they look to
fine-tune their strategies for the upcoming postseason.
Josh Pratt had a mixed performance. Though he threw his first interception since week 1, he
quickly rebounded by tossing two touchdown passes—one to Carter Reed and another to
Nelson Davenport. Davenport, showcasing his team-first mentality, even pitched an interception
back to Pratt, allowing him to score a touchdown. In contrast, Reed opted not to pitch the ball
despite having six teammates behind him, looking like the selfish defensive back version of Tom
Brady and choosing instead to run out of bounds, much to the bewilderment of onlookers.
Pratt’s night was not without its controversies. In a moment that drew both cheers and jeers, he
designed an extra point play intended for May. However, the execution fell short, as he threw
the ball high and away, leaving it in a position only a player of LeBron James’ caliber could
catch.
As both teams prepare for what promises to be an exciting playoff clash, the stakes are higher
than ever. Team Davenport looks forward to making a significant impact in the postseason and
continuing their win streak.
Team Pogue (12) – Team Arcement (25)
Team Pogue: We had games outside after weeks of anticipation. Special Thanks to the Kung
Fu Grip for setting up the field. We faced off against Team Arcemont for week two of the highly
paid quarterback section of our schedule.
The game couldn’t have started any better. Team Pogue carved up Team Arcemont’s defense
like they were a Thanksgiving Turkey, and we feasted like starving Pilgrims. We ripped off
completions to Peytavin, Bass, the Super Star Rookie and Menck. The drive was capped off
with Pogue’s 20-yard touchdown scramble. It was beautiful. The legions of Team Pogue fans in
attendance were in ecstasy.
The co-league leading Team Arcemont is led by Brad “District MVP” Pevey and Will “Mighty
Mouse” Arcemont. District MVP was methodical executing short passes and scrambling for
needed yardage. Team Pogue caught a break when District MVP’s pass was tipped into
the waiting arms of the Ageless Neal Grob.
Team Pogue could smell in blood in the water and was ready to punish Team Arcemont’s critical
mistake. Team Arcemont unleashed District MVP and Tommy “Headband” Allen to contain
Pogue’s scrambling; however, Team Pogue moved the ball by completing quick passes
to Peytavin, Menck and Kitto. We capped the drive with a touchdown when Pogue was flushed from the pocket and found the Ageless Neal Grob in the endzone.
If you thought 6-0 was epic…imagine Team Pogue leading 12-0.
Emotions were high but District MVP was undeterred. He led the team down the field for a TD
with 1 minute to go in the first half. Team Pogue takes over on offense and is looking for more.
There were no thoughts of Murphy’s Law still being in effect and derailing our well-
deserved first victory. Unfortunately, we have all seen this movie before and know that our
plucky band of misfits have only begun to suffer. Anyway, we run our first play and Pogue starts
scrambling for his life. As this was occurring, we have a wide receiver, who shall remain
nameless, call for the ball. Typically, receivers only call for the ball when they’re wide open,
but the receiver called for the ball despite Mighty Mouse being on the scene. Pogue was correct
in believing that he would throw a touchdown pass when the ball left his hand; however, he was
mistaken about which team would score the touchdown. Mighty Mouse immediately
intercepted the ball and bobbed and weaved to the endzone. I’ll be honest, I don’t think we
chased him for nearly five seconds because no one could believe he was anywhere in the
vicinity of the play after the receiver called for the ball. We ended the half tied at 12-12.
The second half can best be described as the wheels falling off the bus then the bus driving
off a cliff and exploding on impact. We are 0-6.
There is a silver lining in this otherwise dark cloud of bullshit. BRAAS will be treated to the
“Something Has Got to Give Bowl” in the first round of the playoffs. You see, there is another
equally defeated team in the standings. Team McKee and Team Pogue have suffered through a
season of futility and sit an astonishing combined record of zero wins and twelve losses.
Believe it or not, there is a deeper connection these two teams than their win/loss record. Their
suffering is bound by former BRAAS President, Pat Walker. Pat is often referred to as “The Bad
Walker”. That nickname may seem undeserved to many; however, one could argue that it is
well earned given his role drafting Team Pogue and quarterbacking Team Mckee. He did an
excellent job ensuring that both teams suffered in the deepest circles of hell this year. The best
news of all is that both teams’ suffering will be ended on Monday. One team will finally
experience the sweet taste of victory and the other team will be put out of its misery. Arrive
early to grab front row seats to this barn burner.
Team Arcement: Team Arcement vs Team Pogue started off with a methodical drive by TP to
go up 6-0. An interception on TA’s first drive saw TP with a chance to go up two scores… and
they did just that. Down 12-0 quickly, TA had to respond. On their 2nd drive Pevey found Nic
Morel for a long touchdown to cut the deficit to 6. TA followed it up with a pick 6 right before
halftime and it was all tied up at 12 at the break. TA had all the momentum and got the ball to
start the 2H. They drove down for a TD to go up 18-12. The following possession saw TA with a
tip drill interception by Chase Fresina. Another well orchestrated offensive possession ended
with a TD by TA to go up 25-12 thanks to a classic QB to center TD by Pevey to Dom Valenti.
TA stepped up their defense in the 2H and the game ended with that scoreline. TA heads into
the playoffs after a tough comeback victory.
